Chevrolet revalues its presence at World Touring Car Championship
For three consecutive years, Chevrolet racing team has proven the toughness of the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet's best-selling variant, while competing with the major competitors in motorsport. U.S. automotive giant, Chevrolet decided to no longer jump at World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) at the end of the 2012 racing season.
"After conducting a strategic review of marketing programs and Chevrolet motor sports, we decided to leave the Championship FIA World Touring Car Championship at the end of the 2012 racing season, and focus on the activities of the Chevrolet brand in other areas," said President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe, Susan Docherty.
"We are very proud of the two World Championships doubles title that we have achieved in the WTCC series, as well as 59 victories over the last eight years. WTCC has become one of the strong brand platform for Chevrolet in Europe and other markets around the world," she added .
