Ford in partnership with Sollers build electric cars for Russian automotive consumers

Moscow: Ford Motor Company and the Russian automotive manufacturers, Sollers, has established a joint company which it will significantly expand sales of products from the U.S. automotive manufacturer in the Russian market for 10 years.



As reported by Insideline.com, recently, both the famous automobile manufacturer will invest more than 1.4 billion dollars on their new venture, which it will be called 'Ford Sollers', with production plant in Vsevolozhsk, near St. Petersburg, as well as Naberezhnye Chelny and Tatarstan. In addition to vehicle assembly, the combined company will also include production machinery, and stamping operations.

Most of the investment fund will be provided by Vnesheconom bank, one of Russia's biggest bank, and two automotive manufacturers to provide additional funds. The new company will focus on the production of six Ford models, including Explorer and a Transit van, which it will be launched in Tatarstan, Russia, next year.

They also plan to produce a new version of the Focus and Mondeo sedans, and the Kuga compact crossover. In addition, the company will start assembly of SKD kits from the S-Max and Galaxy minivan.
