Getting Sleepy should be alert

Getting Sleepy should be alert. AAA has advice to help you stay awake. Good night's sleep before a long trip, avoid traveling in when you normally sleep, rest every two hours, and traveling with someone who can replace you drive.

AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety in the United States have completed a new study reveals that one in seven drivers aged 16 to 24 years admitted falling asleep while behind the wheel in the past year.

Drowsy driver safety is a threat to public safety, but of the people surveyed said recently they are also driving in a state that quite tired and they are struggling to keep their eyes open.

"Unfortunately, most drivers underestimate risk when driving in a state of drowsiness and they feel they have a great ability to deal with it. It is a very dangerous combination," said AAA Foundation President and CEO Peter Kissinger.

"Research shows that fatigue would interfere with safe driving attitudes with the same symptoms as in drunk," said AAA President and CEO Robert Darbelent in the same release.
