Bad effects of biofuel

Edinburgh:There are other ways to make biofuels truly environmentally friendly. It should be noted by biofuel producers began to think of making production materials, other than fertilizer. He said the best chance to make a useful biofuel is to use waste materials.

It turns out that biofuels have been touted environmentally friendly as well have an impact on the greenhouse effect. Based on research that was done the University of Edinburgh, biofuels ignores CO2 emissions by vehicles using ethanol and biodiese. "The environmental benefits of biofuels systematically greatly exaggerated," said Dr. Keith Smith, Edinburgh University scientists, recently.

Keith explains, N2O emissions from soil contributes greatly to global warming associated with crop production. That's because every kilogram of N2O emitted into the atmosphere has about the same effect with 300kg of CO2.

He believes that today some of the environmental agency or the percentage of LCA underestimate the actual use of fertilizer nitrogen emitted into the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas. "The calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from bioenergy production by LCA ignores other important information," said Keith.
