List of safest minivan or MPV 2011 in United States

DETROIT, - Insurance Intitute for Highway Safety gave the latest five-minivan or MPV as a "Top Safety Pick 2011" by the hit-and-tumble test method.


The five cars that qualify are the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, Volkswagen Routan, Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna. Everything has gone through a variety of front crash test, side and rear, and the extreme is the crash test to tumble. Another requirement, MPV must have stability control (ESC) as an active safety equipment.

Actually there are two more contestants are entered in the test, but the value is lost. Two contestants are Kia Sedona and Nissan Quest. Both are hampered as a hit test to tumble. Sedona obtain the smallest value in this method, while the Quest can be accepted or moderate.

"Factors of safety should be an important consideration every family who wants to have a MPV or minivan currently on the rise. Hit-and-tumble test method is important because high minivan body posture," said David Zuby, Head of Insurance Research Intitute.
