Ford's building two plants in Gujarat

"This is an exciting moment for Ford in India," said president & managing director of Ford in India, Michael Boneham. "We will continue to invest and strengthen our long-term commitment in India by building two plants in Gujarat and add the portfolio of Fiesta into us." he continued.

For more further increase its presence in India through an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Gujarat through investments worth U.S. $ 1 billion to set up two new factories, in addition to a factory in Chennai, for the vehicle manufacturer and engine plant in an area of 186 hectares of land in Sanand

FORD sub-division of India announced that it has sold 71,347 units from January to July 31, 2011, an increase of 45% over the same period last year which only managed to sell as many as 49 131 units.

Until now, Ford has only one plant operating in Maraimalai Nagar, not far from Chennai to produce models Figo, Fiesta Classic (sedan), Endeavour and New Fiesta which was launched last April. He added that the Fiesta is the first vehicle of the eight new vehicles coming into India until 2015. Ford India itself was founded in 1995 which is owned by Ford Motor Company.
