SKYACTIV : Environmentally-friendly technology from Mazda

Mazda Motor Corporation launched the environmentally friendly technology for car product called Skyactiv. Skyactiv technology applied to gasoline engines, diesel engines, gear system, the vehicle body and vehicle frame whose purpose is to conserve fuel.

Mazda claims, using Skyactiv technology, the use of fuel on Mazda vehicles could save up to 30 kilometers per liter! By using Skyactiv technology, air pollution levels are also reduced. Use of this environmentally friendly technology is a breakthrough on the anniversary of Mazda's 90th birthday.

Skyactiv technology was launched at the event Mazda Brand Forum 2010 in Tokyo, Japan, Thursday (21/10) in front of journalists from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Ecuador, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, and South Africa. The event was filled with presentations about technology Skyactiv by Mazda officials. The event also featured a number of cars that use Skyactiv technologies, such as engine, frame, and the vehicle body.

Rather than developING hybrid engine technology, like other Japanese automotive industry, Mazda is not interested in switching to hybrid cars, in which it combine the oil-fueled engines and batteries, but pure gasoline engine or diesel fuel.

Representative Director, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation said Takashi Yamanouchi, Skyactiv tech cars will be mass produced in Japan from mid-2011.

According to the Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer, In charge of R & D Program Management and Mazda Motor Corporation, Seita Kanai, Mazda Skyactiv prepared two types of machines, namely Skyactiv-G Skyactiv gasoline and diesel-D.

"Skyactiv-G is an efficient next-generation engine with direct injection system. This engine is a gasoline engine with the highest compression ratio in the world, namely 14:1, "he said (mostly gasoline engine compression ratio in the range of 9.7:1 to 11:1).

However, with compression ratios as high as that, of course, it required octane fuel with hugh extra/addition well.

Kanai added, Skyactiv-D engine is a clean diesel engine with 14:1 compression ratio. The machine is a diesel engine with a compression ratio of the lowest in the world (mostly the latest diesel engine compression ratio in the range of 18:1).

In addition to using environmentally friendly engine technology, Skyactiv technology also uses a system of automatic and manual gear new. Transmission system is smaller and lighter size. New transmission system promises comfort while it is operated by the driver.
