New BMW 5 will be its first electric car, Megacity Electric Car, in 2013.

Beijing-Having successfully launched the new BMW 5 Series with a long wheelbase, Bayersiche Motoren Werke (BMW) is now poised to do a new breakthrough. Together the partners of joint venture in China, Brilliance Automotive Ltd., the German luxury manufacturer plans to produce electric cars in the Bamboo Curtain country.

"The car will be produced with the designed in China," said Daniel Kirchert, Senior Vice President of Marketing at BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd told the Oriental Morning Post quoted gasgoo.com, Wednesday (3 / 11).




Kirchert who spoke at the meeting of China Green Enterprises also said, patents of stun-powered car was later owned by the joint venture of the two companies. And it did not rule out this car is marketed in exports to many countries.

If the plan is realized, the BMW's luxury car manufacturer became the first electric car launched in the country having a population of nearly 1.3 billion people. Now, the efforts to produce electric cars have been initiated.

In the early stages, joint venture has conducted tests MINI E (one of them under the umbrella of the BMW) using electricity. The test has already been in the stage of road testing on various road conditions.

Pilot project facilitated by Sino-Germany economic and technological cooperation forum has sanctioned the National Development and Reform Commission, Germany Economy and Technology Ministry.

Only, until now, no information on when the stun-powered car made by joint venture, it was launched. However, during a celebration of the Beijing Motor Show 2010 in which it was held last April, the BMW AG had said, the institute will launch its first electric car, Megacity Electric Car, in 2013.
