Jeep still loves US


OHIO - Marchionne statement was issued in response to comments U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney during a speech in Ohio. On that occasion, the U.S. Republican presidential candidate said that Chrysler was considering moving all Jeep production from Ohio to China.

Chrysler Romney immediately denied the statement. And Marchionne as CEO of Chrysler employees feel obligated to soothe worried losing their jobs, as production shifted to China.


"I feel obliged to reiterate our position. Production Jeep will not be moved from the U.S. to China," Marchionne wrote in an email addressed to the employees of Chrysler Group as reported Inautonews.

"Jeep is one of our global brand with unique American roots. This will never change. So we are committed that the name Wrangler is iconic, and still manufactured in Toledo, Ohio," added Marchionne.

CEO also said Chrysler Jeep will continue to expand manufacturing in the United States, by investing more than $ 1, 7 billion to develop and build the next generation of the Jeep Liberty.

A total of $ 500 million will be used for the procurement of equipment and expanding manufacturing facilities in Toledo. Chrysler also plans to add 1,100 employees to the second shift in 2013.


Chrysler Group CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that production of the Jeep variant will not be moved to China. Chrysler said the Jeep brand remained in the United States.
