Ford announced the closure of the factory in Santa Rosa

MANILA - Until now, the factory Ford Philippines has been exporting 80 thousand vehicles in CBU status (finished goods) to the regional markets of Southeast Asia, like Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.

Ford plant in Santa Rosa, which employs 360 staff, has a production capacity of 36 000 vehicles per year. This plant assembles Escape SUV variant C307 and second-generation of Focus.

Ford Escape in Indonesia sent from the Philippines. Not yet known where the production will be moved this Escape, after its assembly plant in the Philippines will be closed.

Southeast Asia regional production will be concentrated in Thailand. Own factory in Thailand to focus on the assembly of the Fiesta and the New Ranger. T6 variant also being assembled there, and the C346 Focus will also soon join the lineup.

Ford plant in Rayong is also prepared to build a compact SUV variants of EcoSport, who modeled the future after the Ford Focus.


Ford announced the closure of the factory in Santa Rosa, Philippines at the end of 2012. Cessation of activity in the Philippines this plant as part of company policy to streamline its operations in ASEAN.

This is the second time an American manufacturer closes its plant in the Philippines. Previously, Ford factory south of Manila has been closed in the era of the 80s. Then re-opened in 1998, and began exporting cars in September 2002.
