Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said that Renault-Nissan partnership with Daimler not only profitable for Nissan and Infiniti brands. Two Japanese brands will share platforms and engines with Mercedes-Benz, while Renault have access to technology for Mercedes-Benz new luxury model.
According to AutoWeek, in a French radio broadcast last week, Carlos Ghosn said that Renault would be collaborating with Mercedes-Benz at the high-end model. This statement followed earlier claims that Renault's Ghosn posed is considering to utilize technology for Mercedes-Benz models the latest high-end Renault.
Renault's flagship sedan now is Latitude is manufactured in South Korea by Samsung Motors. Through collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, Renault can change the Latitude or any other high-end model to be cheaper than developing it from scratch.
As we know, Renault does not have much luck in making and selling luxury cars and that's to be overcome by Ghosn. Through a partnership with Mercedes-Benz, Renault may finally overcome these challenges and help boost sales in which the vehicle was marketed.
In return, Renault Mercedes-Benz will provide knowledge about small cars and Renault Twingo minicar platform to supply the next generation of the Mercedes for use in next generation smart fortwo cars that will be produced next year.
Reportedly, Renault is also planning a new sports car to mark the anniversary of the Alpine Renault Berlinetta A1190-50 are shown at the Paris Motor Show 2012 this fall in draft form.
