Toyota Prius's best-selling car followed by Honda Fit as second


Tokyo: sales of Honda Fit came in second with more than 207,000 units sold. Suzuki Wagon R came in third with more than 160,000 units sold. This was followed by Daihatsu Move which sold more than 145,000 units, and Tanto just under 130,000 units sold.

Toyota Motor cars assembled hybrid, the Toyota Prius, was named by the best-selling car in Japan during the year 2011 for the third time in a row. Similarly, overall car sales figures released by the Association of Japanese automotive industry on Wednesday (11 / 1).


As quoted by NHK, the Association also showed that public preferences are leaning like fuel-efficient vehicles and hybrid models. Prius sales for 2011 surpassed 252,000 units. That figure is down 20 percent from the previous year due to lower production after the earthquake and tsunami disaster in March.
