Green Car of the Year's candidates're Natural Gas Honda Civic, Ford Focus Electric, Volkswagen Passat TDI, Mitsubishi i, and Toyota Prius V


Five eco-friendly vehicles compete for the award "Green Car of the Year" at the Los Angeles auto show this week.

The candidates are using different combinations and different technologies, some use full power, hybrid-electric fuel mixture or CNG.

Candidates are Natural Gas Honda Civic, Volkswagen Passat TDI, Mitsubishi i, the Toyota Prius V and Ford Focus Electric.

The nominees for this year Ford and Mitsubishi is a fully electric power vehicles, the Prius with hybrid technology, Volkswagen and Honda with diesel engines using gas.

2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas won the "Green Car of the Year" at the Los Angeles Auto Show and beat the other candidates.

The title was announced at the exhibition that was held since the vehicle was 18 to 27 November.

"Civic Natrual Gas is a great vehicle to show commitment of Honda to provide a variety of alternative fuel," said Michael Accavitti of the American Honda Motor Co.., Inc. as quoted by AFP.

The vehicle is the only CNG-engine cars that made ​​mass in the United States and offered since October starting price of 26 thousand dollars.
