Toyota Motor Corporation announced the setting up the new hatchback model will be manufactured at the plant Burnaston, Derbyshire, England starting next year. Prepared fresh funds disbursed 100 million euros for the preparation of the production process, means opening new jobs for 1,500 people through 2013.
The new cars will fill the complete C-segment Auris who had already been produced at Burnaston. "The introduction of a new generation hatchback will increase the capacity of the plant at Burnaston. For the first phase there will be an additional 550 jobs until mid-2012," wrote Toyota as reported by Japan Today (24/11).
Burnaston factory has been operating since 1993 and currently produces three main models of Toyota, namely Hybrid Auris, Auris and Avensis. The presence of this new hatcback will increase factory production lines and capacity.
Responding to this new investment, Prime Minister David Cameron said, "Toyota's announcement is fantastic news and adds to the confidence the UK manufacturing sector. Workers Toyota has also shown great skill, hard work and high professionalism."
Cameron continued, investment and new job creation will drive economic progress. Vital things that need to be strengthened to create a balanced economy is the manufacturing sector, innovation and exports. This time, the British automotive become the locomotive for creating a positive growth.
Turkey
In addition to the UK, Toyota also announced willing to produce small sedans at the factory Sakarya, Turkey. At least, 150 million euros of funds had already been prepared and 400 new jobs will be available.
