In an interview, Brad Bird, director of 'The Incredibles' and 'Ratatouille' said the animation is not a genre. Animation is a medium to convey a story. Looking at Pixar lunge for this, and after watching 'Cars 2' with a permanent smile when leaving the cinema, I understood what was said Brad Bird. Whatever the form of film, if you tell a story properly, whatever you will say will be up to the audience.
PS: Let's wait how the fate of the Brave next year. Pixar seems to surprise us again.
Continuing the success of his first film, this time 'Cars 2' tells the story of a political conspiracy in the world of the car. After being a defending champion in the Piston Cup Champion, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) finally returned to Radiator Springs to meet with old friends, including Mater (Larry The Cable Guy). They also spend time together to release the flavor miss. Including dating McQueen interfere with Sally (Bonnie Hunt).
No thank harassed by Italian Francesco Bernoulli (Jon Turturro), also defended McQueen Mater to compete in the Grand Prix hosted by Miles Axlerod (Eddie Izzard) Allinol boss, a company producing alternative energy for cars. On the other hand, a secret agent of the British Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) to investigate illegal mining of oil at sea that took her to an unknown car.
In the middle of the match, McQueen and Mater at loggerheads. Mater and McQueen left the meeting with Finn who assume it is a secret agent. And that's when Mater must save the world, and the new McQueen Mater realize how important a figure in his life.
Until the 'Toy Story 3' years ago, Pixar has never let us down. This is the only studio that has never failed to make a quality film. We were given the toys to life and adventure in 'Toy Story', the insects that interact in 'A Bug's Life', the monster that requires screaming child in 'Monsters Inc..', A clown fish who swim across the Pacific for the sake of her child in 'Finding Nemo', the drama of a superhero family in 'The Incredibles', gutter rat who aspires to be a reliable chef in 'Ratatouille', garbage cleaning robot in outer space adventure in the 'Wall-E', until the old man flew his adventures in 'Up'.
Only Cars which was released in 2006 is the only Pixar film that is less appreciated than the Pixar films to another. Does the same fate this sequel to its predecessor?
Apparently 'Cars 2' is more interesting than the first film. The story is complex but not confusing and full of fresh humor with interesting twist at the end of the film. Its breathtaking action scenes (practically not inferior to the James Bond films), car chasing scene was thrilling and how Pixar deliver messages that are clear but still subtle things that can be said to be a genius.
His voice filling the ranks, unlike other studios are obsessed to give the role to the star class, quality primed to blow the spirit into the characters of this film. And for the animation department, Pixar still remain at the forefront. Movement is smooth and the pictures almost look like real. Especially in the shot-shot landscape that shows the streets of Tokyo, Paris, Italy to London.
Praise should be given to John Lasseter, the commander of 'Cars 2' (and Brad Lewis as co-director) and Ben Queen as a script writer. They make 'Cars 2' into animated films are fun, entertaining and leave something to the audience after the film ends. Which again, is a risky job given the response to the first film a less warm.
