This year at least 1.6 millions unit are sold by BMW on sales target

after all the January to June and then successfully sold 833,366 units of cars in various parts of the world, is now Banyerische Motoren Werke (BMW) AG set a sales target this year of 1.6 million units more. Last year, the German luxury car manufacturer was able to sell 1.46 million units.

"Total sales of BMW brand, MINI, and Rolls-Royce increased by more than 10 percent over last year, bringing the total sales of more than 1.6 million units," the press release as reported by BMW AG detroitnews.com, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 .

In line with increased sales, the manufacturer also estimates operating earnings will increase 10 percent. Previously, profit before tax and interest is expected to increase 8 percent. Only, the manufacturer does not mention the amount of such benefits in real terms.

Previously BMW states throughout June and it posted sales of 134,432 units. "The number of sales increased 12.3 percent compared to June 2010," declared Ian Robertson, Director of Marketing for BMW, as reported by autoevolution.com.

BMW sales skyrocketing throughout June is sustained by sales of the BMW 5 Series and variants Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) BMW X3. The latest model is selling well in countries that are included in the category of emerging markets, namely Brazil, Russia, India, and China.

Overall, the BMW Group - which consists of the brands BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce - in June and posted sales of 165,885 units. That figure is up 15.9 percent over sales in June 2010.
