Laser plug is installed into Mazda Rotary's engine

Autocar MAGAZINE reports that Mazda would use a laser spark plug on their new generation rotary engine. The news allegedly comes from one of the engineers working on the project. Mazda has built 16X Renesis Rotary engine since the 2007's. Autocar reported that this new machine to increase its capacity from 1.3 liter to 1.6 liter engine and some parts will be made of aluminum to reduce weight.

Development conducted Mazda rotary engine intended to make them be more fuel efficient and able to present a greater torque. The use of a laser spark plug also allows the engine Wankel findings could be more streamlined than the use of conventional spark plugs.
