General Director of Oil and Gas Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, Evita Herawati Legowo, recommends users of four-wheel vehicles to use the Fuel Gas (CNG). BBG could be as an alternative to change fuel oil when fuel subsidy restrictions come into force in April.
"If you do not want to move to Pertamax, LGV can use because of being cheaper than premium," said Evita was quoted as saying in the release of the Ministry of Energy.
LGV or Liquefied Natural Gas for Vehicle (LGV), she said, will be recommended for users of private vehicles. LGV or as known by the trade name Vi-Gas, a gas fuel formulated for these vehicles using spark ignition engine consists of a mixture of propane (C3) and butane (C4).
According to Evita, currently there are 19 stations to provide LGV in the vicinity of Jakarta such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. One liter of LGV can be used to cover the distance about 40 km.
However, in order to use these fuel vehicle owners must have a converter kit is worth USD 10 million first.
As for public transportation, Evita recommend to use gas fuel type of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). "" We're preparing a bus later Transjakarta use CNG. Taxis can use CNG or LGV. Personal vehicles can use a LGV or Vi-Gas, "she said.
Evita acknowledge that the current infrastructure to support fuel gas are still shortcomings. Currently there are only 6 Fuel Gas Filling Station (SPBG) in the Jakarta area. "But this plan we will multiply again," she said.
The supply of gas for transportation, she said, it is already regulated by the government in the Ministerial Regulation No. 19 Year 2010 so that there is no need to worry about gas supplies for the alternative fuel. "In it we are forced regulation of upstream and downstream producers to provide some production for the BBG," she explained.
As known, in April next year will begin to fulfill their government-subsidized fuel restrictions which those will start from the Greater Jakarta area at first.
