Munich - The promise of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG or Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) to announce eco-friendly vehicle development project on February 21, 2011, which it was expressed on early February also delivered in Munich, yesterday. Actually, i3 is a pure electric vehicles which that were previously used by temporary name: Megacity Vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with a system called ActiveE 1-Series-powered 168 hp and 250 Nm of torque.
It is unlike to i8 of 1.5-liter diesel engine and electric motor as same as used for i3. Only, force is large enough for 328 hp and it is capable of Acceleration for 0-100 km per hour in 4.8 seconds with a 62.2 mpg fuel economy equivalent to 26.6 kilometers per liter. Both models are produced at the Leipzig plant spending 400 million euros and it uses the same components from the electric motor, electrical system and lithium-ion high-voltage.
BMW states that two models were developed by using the LifeDrive concept chassis to the engine from aluminum. Cab of riders use super light but strong carbon fiber material called lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP).
Klaus Draeger, BMW Board for Development said, "Both cars are specially designed according to each technology. We use innovative design and CFRP to reduce vehicle weight. For consumers this means driving dynamics."
