TOKYO- GRMN Sport hybrid, hybrid sports car concept the tiny size appearing in the event the Tokyo Auto Salon 2010 in last January. It has given the green light to be produced by Toyota. This is the challenge for CEO of Toyota Motor Corp., Akio Toyoda, to restore the enthusiasm behind the wheel driving on the production cars.
The folks responsible for taking the LF-A to the Nurburgring, Gazoo Racing, have just unveiled the the GRMN Sports Hybrid at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon, a concept car based on the Toyota MR2 that utilizes a gas/electric hybrid power train to move the lightweight mid engine rear wheel drive two seat sports car. The GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept was created to show the world what a green dream car can be. The goal was to create a 1,300 kilogram vehicle that would be able to combine the fun of driving at speed with the wind in your hair with an efficient power source in order to offer the best of both worlds to the consumer. Gazoo Racing added a wide body kit to keep the modified MRS looking planted and make room for the additional hardware that makes up the four wheel drive hybrid drive train system.
This successor of MR2 will be realized with a more affordable price. Decisions on prices was chosen to answer the challenge the fact that young people in Japan do not have a high interest towards the car.
GRMN jointly developed with Gazoo Racing has 3.3 L V6 engine with a position in the middle and rear wheel drive function. Combined with an electric engine on which it drives the front wheels, the total combined power is 392 hp. For efficiency, in the middle of town, this car can be driven only by electric engines.
Development projects was undertaken by the management division of the newly formed sports car in January 2010. The division then will work for all planning new models of Toyota.
Tokyo Motor Show 2011 event is guaranteed to be showrooms for this cheap sports car.
