Hopefully, it will be realizes as oon as possible for Automotive Technology Trends Towards Euro6 Standards
Despite the current development of automotive technology leads to elektricticityi, but motor fuels, namely gasoline and diesel engines will remain dominant in the next few years.
That is the conclusion made by the world automobile component manufacturers. One is Continental of Germany. Formerly, it was known as the tire manufacturer. However, after acquiring Siemens VDO, the company is aggressively introducing and developing technology engine components, transmissions and other parts of the vehicle.
Consumption & Emissions. The company's main target component maker is to try to create products that it can meet the standards in accordance with regulations made by the government. For example, the EU has call for this, Euro6 must be already applied to cars that it began to be produced from 1 September 2014. A year later, all new vehicles must meet these standards.
We could say, the European standard is too grandiose and it is still out of reach. However definitely, Euro6 has been "forced" to create a car component manufacturers and automotive technology trends.
Surely, the achieved target is the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas that it causes the greenhouse effect or global warming, nitrogen oxides (NOx). With lower emissions resulted, fuel consumption is also becoming more efficient.
Product or important component developed by Continental is fuel system supplier(pump), injection systems, engine management (engine control unit or ECU), transmission, sensors and actuators.
Because there are several components that those are developed, this article was written in several series. The first part, it is about the fuel pump to work in accordance with the needs of the machine.
Fuel Pump. The attempts to reduce CO2 emissions has been started by installing gasoline pumps in the tank. But the pumps are working at a constant speed to supply gasoline to the engine (injector).
The pump is recently designed to work in accordance with the requirements or engine working conditions. For instance, when the vehicle does not (stationary) or running slowly, it will lower the pump rotation. The goal is to save energy. Conversely, if you want fast, you turn the pump up or to work faster and it is the amount of fuel supply so much more.
Therefore, Continental is completed with the chip that it controls the pump works. Chip is mounted on the flange in the gas tank and it can be used to control the pumps working that it works with AC or DC electrical current.
This chip will then be communicated to the management system (computer) of machine to determine the condition of the machine work and then it is used as parameters to control the speed of the pump. Precisely, the pump is adjusted to the needs of working machines.
According to Continental, this method can reduce one or two grams of CO2 per km. It is obtained by the usage of electric power to be lower. Terrible, designed for gasoline and diesel engines. (To be continued)
