Cars with alternative technology start to be ogled by the world's consumers. Evidently, Toyota are managed to carve achievement of hybrid cars sold in Europe as many as 70,500 units during 2010. It has been never before in history, sales of hybrid was able to penetrate this figures.
Sales increased 29% to be compared to the year 2009. The prestige was the more positive because at the same time, Toyota had to face serious pressure due to the news of recall was everywhere.
In total, Toyota's sales in Europe, Israel and Central Asia reached 808,311 units, exceeding the target set at the beginning of the year that was 800,000 units. In Europe, Toyota was marketing the Toyota Prius hybrid and the Toyota Auris hybrid. Didier Leroy, president of Toyota Europe believed in 2011 that sales will increase even if market conditions are still challenging. "The launch of the Lexus 200h and Toyota Verso CT-S in the first quarter of 2011 will push sales," he said.
In Central and Eastern European region, Toyota's sales increased 8% and 57%. The increase also occurred in the Nordic region (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden) to 9%. Britain is Europe's largest Toyota market reached 100,885 units, followed by Russia (89,262 units), Italy and Germany. With that achievement, Toyota's market share reached 4.4%.
